The river rafting trip sails off from the LappeanLohi jetty and calmly sails upstream the tranquil border river. Admire the Finnish and Swedish shores of the river as you sail along. The raft is anchored in Muotkanlahti and we step on land. From here the pleasant hiking trip to the rushing rapids of Köngäs begins. The hiking trip traverses moderately easy terrain following the course of the Tornionjoki River. You will hear the pounding of the water long before you reach Köngäs. The trail takes you to the banks of the rapids, where we take a break and listen to the power of the white water. The guide will tell you about the history of the Köngäs ironworks, as well as Lars Leevi Laestadius who was closely associated with these. Hiking calmly back to the raft, we savour some sooty pot coffee and tasty snack before sailing the raft back to the home port at LappeanLohi.
This trip is arranged if water levels allow: if the water in the river is very shallow, we will not be able to reach ground at Muotkalahti.
