Employees and guides
Olavi first came to work for us in 2000 and became employed full-time since 2003. His job description includes being responsible for operations and he also works as a guide and driver.
Olavi's pastimes include activities with pulse increasing activities, of course with salmon fishing in the summertime. Olavi believes salmon fishing is at its best in the morning; sipping morning coffee on the river, watching the sun rise and nature awaken is a truly relaxing experience. Since he was a young boy, Olavi has been fishing the quiet waters of Lappea. He used to go fishing for grayling with his cousin in August until it got dark. Olavi’s enthusiasm for salmon fishing started in 1998, when he became hooked with his catch of a 17 kg salmon. You can contact Olavi at: email@example.com
Marika came to work for the family business in August 2013. Having been brought up in an entrepreneurial family herself, she was never supposed to become an entrepreneur, but as the years went by, Marika changed her mind and returned back to work in the family business. Years flew by living in southern Finland and abroad. She has a family of two children and a dog and most of her free time is spent outdoors with them.
Marika’s motto is that everything always works out for the best and everything has a purpose.
Mauri started working as an entrepreneur in 1988, once work finished at the Rautuvaara Mine. In the beginning he ran a travel agency in connection with his wife’s Riitta-Liisa’s bookshop, later to expanding into activity programmes. Back in 1988 there were not that many activity programme enterprises in Ylläs. Mauri himself worked a number of years as a guide and over the years he has done a little less guiding work, but still works actively in the company, although officially he has reached the age of retirement.
Mauri still takes care of the financial administration and transportation of the company, a jack of all trades. His official title is Chairman of the Board of Directors.
My name is Pekka. I was born in Kittilä on Good Friday 1963. We moved to Ivalo in 1970, which is where I spent my youth and attended school and high school.
My summers were spent working for Metsähallitus, stamping and planting. In 1985 I attended a year-long high school-based Wilderness Guide course in Inari. Following that I moved to Kolari, where I have lived ever since. I have had a number of different jobs; construction work, waiting, installations in metal industry companies, a year as a teacher in the Äksjokisuu School, and of course I’ve worked as a guide for a number of enterprises. I have been working full-time now for Kylmämaa for over 13 years.
My hobbies include hunting, fishing and wandering through the depths of the forest... When I was younger I played football and volleyball for the Kolari teams. I still play some volleyball. Since 2011, my new hobby has been motorcycling.
Nature and its empowering effects have had such an impact on me, that I want our guests to experience the same. My professional responsibilities are development project tasks focusing on enhancing tourism during seasons with no snow. My free time is spent cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking, fishing and taking photographs.
